What does my contract and its associated terms and conditions look like?

Are extra digital services included with my lease car?
Some cars come with extra services like navigation updates, connected services or other digital subscriptions. These are often free from the brand for the first year after delivery. After that period, you will need to pay for them yourself.
Do I have to pay if I want to extend them?
Yes. If a service expires and you want to continue using it, the cost is yours. This is not included in your lease contract with DirectLease.
Where can I extend or cancel these services?
You arrange this directly through the dealer. In most cases, you can also do it online via the brand’s website or app.

What is included in the lease price?
Repairs, maintenance, tyres, all-risk insurance, roadside assistance in the Netherlands and abroad, road tax, replacement transport after 72 hours and of course VAT. The only thing you have to take care of yourself is the fuel.

Is maintenance and the MOT included in my lease contract?
Yes, that’s all included in your lease.
Invoices for maintenance and the MOT (APK) are sent directly to DirectLease, so you won’t have to pay anything yourself.Got damage like scratches or dents?
Then it’s possible we’ll charge the insurance excess.Questions?

Is replacement transport included in my contract?
Yes. With DirectLease, you are entitled to replacement transport after 72 hours, at our expense. Of course, you can get a replacement car right away — but you’ll need to cover the cost yourself for the first 72 hours.
The replacement car provided is a standard A-segment model (like a Peugeot 108 or Kia Picanto).
Need a larger car? That’s possible, depending on availability. Any extra costs will be at your own expense.Want us to cover replacement transport earlier than 72 hours? Then we recommend choosing the option: “replacement transport after 24 hours.” With this option, DirectLease pays the cost starting from the 24th hour. The cost for this upgrade is €5 per month.

What does monthly cancellable leasing mean?
Need a car for a shorter period? Not sure how long you want to lease? Or do you want the flexibility to end your contract easily? Then a lease contract with flexible duration is perfect for you.
Here’s how it works: you choose a lease period between 12 and 60 months. The choice is yours. You get all the benefits of Full Operational Lease, with one big advantage — after 12 months, you can return the car free of charge at any time. This is what we call monthly cancellable leasing. Just keep in mind there is a one-month notice period.
Is the lease contract always a maximum of 60 months?
In our monthly cancellable lease offers, you may see contract durations of 24, 36, 48 or 60 months. No matter which one you choose, you can return the car free of charge at any point after the first 12 months, with a one-month notice. The maximum contract duration depends on the car, but it’s never more than 60 months.
Is a down payment possible?
Yes. A down payment is possible with monthly cancellable contracts. It is calculated over the full contract duration.
If you return the car before the end of the contract, the unused portion of your down payment will be refunded.
Can I add an accessory?
Yes, you can add an accessory at your own expense. However, these costs cannot be included in the lease price.
Please note: the car must be returned in its original condition. If that’s not possible, we will have to charge you for any necessary repairs.

Can I end my lease contract early?
Ending the contract
We understand that life can change. If you are dealing with something like job loss or a divorce, you may no longer be able or willing to pay your monthly lease amount. That’s why we offer the option to end your contract early. We use a fixed buyout calculation for this.Please note: during the first year, early cancellation is not allowed. If you want this flexibility, we recommend including the Protection Plan in your contract.
There are two ways we can calculate the buyout amount. We always use the option that is most favourable for you.
Example calculation
Suppose you choose:
24-month contract: €350 per month
36-month contract: €300 per month
Option 1:
You pay 50% of the remaining contract amount.
Let’s say you chose the 36-month contract and want to cancel after 24 months. That means 12 months are left.
Your buyout would be: 12 x 0.5 x €300 = €1,800Option 2:
You pay the difference between what you already paid and what you would have paid if you had originally chosen the shorter contract.
So if you cancel after 24 months, we compare the 36-month rate (€300) with the 24-month rate (€350).
You would pay: 24 x (€350 - €300) = 24 x €50 = €1,200In this example, option 2 is cheaper. So we would use that amount as your buyout fee.
What about kilometres?
Our private lease contracts are based on 12,000 kilometres per year. If you return the car early, the allowed mileage is adjusted accordingly. For example, 12,000 kilometres per year equals 1,000 kilometres per month. We recalculate your mileage allowance based on the actual duration of your contract.

I or my co-lessee can no longer drive due to illness. Can the lease contract be cancelled?
First of all, we wish you a speedy recovery. If you or your co-lessee has received a permanent driving ban due to illness, the lease contract can be terminated. You have two options:
Protection Plan
If you have included the Protection Plan in your contract, you can return the lease car at any time, even within the first year, without paying a cancellation fee. Any damage or extra kilometres will be settled according to the lease contract.
Please note: you must provide written proof of the driving ban, for example, a statement from a medical specialist.Ending your contract early
If you did not include the Protection Plan, we can still terminate your contract early. In that case, a fixed buyout arrangement applies. Keep in mind that the contract cannot be cancelled within the first year.Questions?

Can someone else take over my lease contract?
Yes, that’s possible. But we’re required to do a new income check first.
If everything checks out, we’re allowed to transfer the contract to someone else, following the rules of the Private Lease Quality Mark.The cost for this change is €298.

My relationship has ended. Can I cancel my lease contract?
We hope it won’t happen, but if your relationship unfortunately comes to an end, we’re here to help. In this case, you have two options:
Protection Plan
If you are going through a divorce or ending a registered partnership or cohabitation agreement, the Protection Plan allows you to return your lease car at any time, even within the first year, without paying a cancellation fee. Any damage or extra kilometres will be settled according to the lease contract.Please note: you must be able to provide written proof, such as a divorce agreement. Also, the Protection Plan must have been added to your lease contract when you signed it.
Ending your contract early
If you chose not to include the Protection Plan in your contract, we can still end the contract early. In that case, a fixed buyout fee applies. Keep in mind that contracts cannot be cancelled within the first year.Questions?

I lost my job. Can I end my lease contract?
Losing your steady income, or that of your co-lessee, can cause a lot of stress. We understand that you may want to end your lease contract and stop paying the monthly lease amount. That’s why we offer two options:
The Protection Plan
If you are laid off involuntarily, we can end your lease contract free of charge. This only applies if you or your co-lessee had a permanent employment contract (a contract for an indefinite period) both before and during the lease period, and the dismissal is due to unforeseen circumstances.We check your employment status during the credit approval process, before the lease contract starts. If you want to use the Protection Plan, it must be included in your lease contract.
Please note: if you change jobs during the lease and don’t receive a permanent contract, the Protection Plan no longer applies. Want to know more? You can read the full conditions on our website.
Ending your lease early
If you don’t have the Protection Plan in your contract, we can still end your lease early. In that case, a standard early termination fee applies. Please note: during the first year, the contract cannot be cancelled.Questions?

What happens to the lease contract if I or my co-lessee passes away?
It is not something we like to think about, but in the event of death, we want to ease the burden for the family as much as possible.
If you are the only person who signed the contract, it will be cancelled free of charge. If there are multiple contract holders, it is possible to continue the lease contract. If that is not an option due to circumstances, we will look for a suitable solution together.

What is the Protection Plan, and do I qualify for it?
Some things in life are hard to predict. Think of a divorce, losing your job, illness or even the death of a loved one. We understand that in situations like these, you may no longer want or be able to pay your monthly lease costs.
To support you in these cases, we offer the Protection Plan. This plan allows you to return your lease car at any time. Even within the first year. And without paying a cancellation fee. Any damages or extra kilometres will still be charged according to your lease contract.

Do I qualify?
Yes. We want to offer this option to as many people as possible. Just keep in mind that the Protection Plan is an optional part of your contract. You pay €12 per month to include this extra protection in your lease contract.

Am I allowed to smoke in my lease car?
Unfortunately, smoking is not allowed in our lease cars. We want to make sure the car stays clean and fresh for the next user. This will be checked during the final inspection after the car is returned.
If the car needs professional cleaning due to smoke smell, a cleaning fee of 750 euros will be charged to you.

Can I request a fuel card?
A lot is included in your lease contract, but fuel is not. Unfortunately, it is not possible to request a fuel card through DirectLease.

How long can I drive a private lease car?
You can take out a private lease contract for 24, 36, 48 or 60 months. The available terms depend on the model and version of the car.
Would you rather not commit to a long-term contract? Then flexible leasing might be perfect for you. You sign a contract for a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 60 months. This means you can already lease a car for just 1 year and return it free of charge at any time after that.
