How does returning my lease car work?
Is your lease contract almost ending? Or do you want to return the car early?
Then you'll need to deregister the car online and schedule a return appointment.Here’s what to keep in mind:

What should I keep in mind when returning my lease car?
Is your lease period coming to an end? Then you can easily schedule a return appointment online. When returning your car, it is important to include everything that came with it. Please return the following:
The main key and spare key (including remote control if applicable)
The registration certificate
The Certificate of Conformity (only for new cars delivered from 1 September 2020 onwards)
The navigation software (all CDs) and any alarm certificate
The maintenance and instruction manual
The full tool kit, such as jack, spare wheel and tools
All accessories listed in your lease contract
We also ask you to:
Remove all personal belongings from the car
Delete your navigation history
Delete your phone connection history
Unpair any connected devices
Tip: The car does not need to be returned with a full fuel tank

My lease car has been returned. What happens next?
Have you returned your lease car? Then one of our professionals will carry out an inspection. Based on this, an official return report will be created. This report includes any damage found and other relevant notes.
If damage is found that was not reported in advance, or if any items that are part of the lease agreement are missing, costs may be charged. You will receive the final invoices within three weeks of the inspection.
Want to view your return report?
You can check the return report online via the inspection portal. Simply enter the car’s licence plate number and reference code.Tip: you’ll find the reference code on your final invoice.

How does the AutoZelfScan app work?
The Self Scan
Use the AutoZelfScan app to carry out your own return inspection. This way, you always have your inspection report at hand. As a thank you for completing the scan, you will receive a 50 percent discount on the pickup fee of 75 euros.
Want to do a self-scan? Contact us at sales@directleaseprivate.nl to request your personal reference code. You will need this code to use the app.
Tip: make sure to include your car’s licence plate in the email.Please note: the self-scan does not replace the official professional inspection.
How does it work?

Complete the inspection within three days before returning your car
Start the scan after washing the car
Enter your car’s licence plate and reference code
Follow the instructions in the app, answer all questions and send the scan
Want to keep a copy? Tick the option to receive it by email

Can I request a statement of no-claim years?
Is your lease contract ending, or are you planning to buy a car or motorcycle during your lease period? You can easily request a lease statement from us. This document shows your no-claim years, which your (new) insurer can use to calculate your bonus or premium.

Can I extend my lease contract?
In some cases, it is possible to extend your lease contract. Please contact our Private Lease team to discuss the options.

Do I own the car at the end of the lease period?
No. The car remains the property of DirectLease. However, you do have the option to buy the car at the end of your contract, based on the current market value. Of course, you can also choose a new car and start a new lease period.
